Development framework for Java

Published: 24 June 2007

Qt Jambi is a rich client development framework for Java, and it is now available for download from Trolltech. It expands the C++ based Qt framework to provide a similar range of facilities for Java developers. An easy-to-learn API and integrated development tools UI make rapid cross-platform development with native look and feel possible. Development teams can work in multiple programming languages and incorporate both C++ and Java components into a single project.

Qt Jambi is also integrated with the EclipseIDE and with the OpenGL 3D graphics library. Applications can be written for Windows 98 to XP, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, and other versions of Unix with X11 graphics. Qt Jambi supports Java Standard Edition 5.0 and Java Enterprise Edition 5.0 as well as later versions. It also offers a platform-independent object communication mechanism, and features internationalisation, SQL databases, XML and TCP/IP network protocols.

Qt Jambi is available under Trolltech’s dual-licence with the option of open source or commercial use, and it is also available as a 30-day free evaluation.
